Job summary

NorthLakes Community Clinic is seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist to assess, diagnose and treat patients using individual, family, couples or group counseling and to provide appropriate referrals in order to help patients achieve their goals.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree plus a Master's degree in counseling and licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT or In‑Training licenses) in Wisconsin; in‑training licenses are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus a Master's in counseling is required.
• Required credentials include LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or In‑Training licenses in Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

• Counsel individuals, families, couples or groups to develop and implement therapeutic plans.
• Interview patients to obtain medical history and relevant information.
• Observe patients for indications of behavior changes.
• Administer tests (psychological, personality inventories, IQ) if trained and certified and record results.
• Plan and administer therapeutic treatments and adjust methods as needed.
• Discuss progress with patients and coordinate with medical doctors or other specialists.
• Document visits in the EMR accurately and timely.
• Participate in behavioral health quality improvement programs.

Salary begins at $68,511.00 + per year depending on experience based on a 1.0 FTE. (In-Training licenses encouraged to apply; salary based on In-Training salary range.)

The purpose of a behavioral health provider is to assess, diagnose and treat patients using individual, family, couples and/or group counseling and informed, appropriate referrals in order to assist the patient in achieving mutually agreed upon goals, leading to a more satisfying, emotionally and socially healthy life. Successful treatment will empower the patient to go forward better equipped to face the many challenges of life.

Essential Job Functions

• Behavioral Health Therapists counsel individuals, families, couples or groups regarding psychological or emotional problems such as stress, substance abuse, or family situations to develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans in clinic settings.
• Interview patients to obtain information concerning medical history or other pertinent information.
• Observe patients to detect indications of abnormal physical or mental behavior.
• If trained and certified, select and administer various tests such as psychological tests, personality inventories, and intelligence quotient tests, to identify behavioral or personality traits and intelligence levels, and record results.
• If trained and certified, review results of tests to evaluate client needs.
• Plan and administer therapeutic treatment such as behavior modification and stress‑management therapy to assist patients in controlling disorders and other problems.
• Change method and degree of therapy when indicated by client reactions.
• Discuss progress toward therapeutic goals with patients.
• Consult with medical doctors or other specialists concerning treatment plan and amend plan as directed.
• Conduct therapy sessions.
• Plan and administer therapeutic treatment by telephonic/telehealth methodologies as indicated by patient needs and state guidelines.
• Refer patients to additional services to supplement treatment and counseling.
• Document the visit in the EMR in an accurate and timely manner.
• Participate in behavioral health quality improvement programs.
• Appropriate use of PPE/infection control protocols when providing treatment to patients.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree plus a Master's Degree in counseling required.

Required credentials, certification, licensure: LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or In‑Training licenses (LPC‑IT, LMFT‑IT, and APSW) required in Wisconsin. Specific training/certifications may be required for certain types of therapy/assessment. Employees will not work outside of their scope of education and training.

Preferred Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Electronic Health Record Systems database software and Word processing software.
