Job description

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Technician - Group ABA (BHT - EI-ABA) provides ABA-based interventions to support children ages 3-6 in a structured group setting. The BHT- EI-ABA assists in developing social, emotional, and behavioral competencies, focusing on communication, play, self-help skills, and potty training. Each BHT-EI-ABA is responsible for working with a group of three children, implementing individualized ABA strategies designed to increase independence, reduce maladaptive behaviors, and build school readiness skills.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to program-specific and agency policy.
  • Attend and participate in all required supervision and training sessions.
  • Build positive relationships with teachers and staff in schools and programs.
  • Collaborate with Program Director, BCBA Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, Administrative Staff, and Quality Assurance Director in monitoring processes.
  • Collaborate with the Behavior Consultant/Mobile Therapist and other treatment providers, participating in supervision and consultation.
  • Collect data as requested in the treatment plan and ensure meaningful data collection.
  • Complete daily progress reports and turn in paperwork within required timeframes.
  • Complete required reports to Childline and other agencies as necessary.
  • Contribute to the development of the child's treatment plan and crisis plan.
  • Engage the child/family in community activities and programs as indicated in the treatment plan.
  • Engage families using reflective listening, collaboration, empathy, and consideration of cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs.
  • Engage parents or extended family members in interventions to transfer skills and foster positive relations.
  • Engage teachers or staff in interventions and utilize their input.
  • Engage the child in specific interventions from the treatment plan during each session.
  • Maintain all scheduled appointments with the family and child.
  • Maintain records and ensure they meet clinical documentation requirements.
  • Practice appropriate utilization of services as per the written order for each client.
  • Provide effective one-on-one interventions in all identified settings and communicate with the Behavior Consultant/Mobile Therapist if interventions are not effective.
  • Request assistance in implementing therapeutic interventions if unclear.
  • Respect the rules and policies of the institutions where treatment is delivered.
  • Show initiative and collaborate on therapeutic activities.
  • Teach child and family specific skills and competency development.
  • Transport the child and family when appropriate.
  • Use strength-based approaches and a positive attitude with the child and family.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Educational Requirements:
  • Have a certification as a BCaBA.
  • Have a certification as an RBT.
  • Have a certification as a BCAT.
  • Have a behavior analysis certification from an organization that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute.
  • Have a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma and have completed a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in providing ABA services and a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA approved by the Department or provided by a continuing education provider approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to carry out appropriate restraints to prevent clients from harming themselves or others.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. at times with or without assistance.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and moving.
Required Clearances and Documentation:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable transportation.
  • Act 31/Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training.
  • Act 34 Pennsylvania State Police Background Check - Criminal History.
  • Act 114 Department of Human Services FBI Fingerprints.
  • Act 33 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History.
