Job summary

Oceans Healthcare is expanding behavioral health services in south central Oklahoma through a new state-of-the-art facility. The PRN Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) supports nursing staff and maintains a therapeutic milieu through patient care activities, safety checks, and effective communication with the care team.

The role requires a high school diploma or CNA certification (or 6 months of direct patient care) and CPR with de-escalation training.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with CNA certification or at least 6 months of direct patient care experience.
• Must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written instruction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral de-escalation program.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to professional standards and follows policies and procedures; complies with Joint Commission standards.
• Demonstrates de-escalation and therapeutic interventions for challenging behaviors.
• Performs vital signs, basic care tasks, and correct documentation.
• Transports and assists with activities of daily living, meals, and personal care needs.
• Documents observations accurately in the patient record and communicates with the nurse promptly.
