Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health in Joplin, MO is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to join our compassionate team. You will provide direct care, monitor patients, and support daily activities in a therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Admit, supervise, monitor, transfer, and discharge clients/patients.
  • Monitor vital signs and escalate as needed for medical intervention.
  • Supervise clients/patients per policy and safety plans.
  • Assist with personal care (grooming, bathing, dressing).
  • Document behaviors and concerns related to clients/patients.
  • Encourage adherence to program expectations and report concerns.
  • Facilitate group rehabilitative activities and education sessions.
  • Provide client transportation as needed.

As a vital member of our team, you will contribute to the overall wellbeing of the individuals we serve. In this pivotal role, you will provide direct care, overseeing daily activities and monitoring health, ensuring the safety and comfort of clients/patients. Your responsibilities will also include facilitating group activities, interpreting treatment plans, and maintaining documentation, integral to the success of our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Admit, supervise, monitor, transfer, and discharge clients/patients.
  • Ensure monitoring of vital signs and determine the need for escalation to medical intervention when critical symptoms present.
  • Facilitate client/patient supervision checks per policy and/or procedure or when indicated by a safety/precautions plan.
  • Assist clients/patients with personal care as needed (e.g., grooming, bathing, dressing).
  • Document reported behaviors and any areas of concern related to clients/patients.
  • Encourage adherence to program expectations and communicate concerning behaviors to the treatment team promptly.
  • Prepare for and facilitate group rehabilitative support, education, recovery skills, or recreation groups as scheduled and assigned.
  • Provide client/patient transportation as needed to and from appointments.
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications
  • High School education OR equivalent and two (2) years of responsible employment.
  • Experience in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Exceptions to the qualifications listed may be made by the appropriate Executive Team member.
Additional Qualifications
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
  • Ability to establish rapport with client/patient populations while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect checks.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle.
Physical Requirements
  • ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
