Job summary

Lakeview Health in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to join our addiction treatment team. The role involves supporting patients within the Bradford program, supervising daily activities, and ensuring safety and compliance with established treatment policies.

The position requires effective communication, a valid driver’s license, CPR certification, and the ability to work around patients in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science, CRC, or CRSS preferred; one year experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact preferred
  • Candidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a basic understanding of chemical dependency recovery
  • Maintain records and have good communication skills
  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record

Responsibilities

  • Assist in luggage and body searches
  • Monitor and sometimes facilitate the Book Studies and Recovery meetings
  • Document hourly checks and track patient locations around the facility
  • Ensure patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for assignments
  • Supervise and sometimes facilitate patient activities as directed
  • Ensure patients are in their rooms at designated times in the evening
  • Oversee med line to prevent diversion and de-escalate situations
  • Assist patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to walk
  • Assist the counselor and engage in documentation as assigned
  • Adhere to all applicable policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate ability to help patients overcome denial and complete treatment goals
  • Manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports
  • Attend staff training and programs as directed
  • Assist nurses as directed by supervisor
  • Drive patients to appointments and outings; purchase sundries as directed

We are dual-certified experts in treating alcohol use, opioid use, and substance abuse disorders, as well as the co-occurring conditions that often accompany them.

We are seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to add to our dynamic team! Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT) are integral in the overall functioning of the facility. In all instances, BHTs will interact with the patient in accordance with established treatment policies and procedures. BHTs may facilitate patient orientation, as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in luggage and body searches
  • Monitor and sometimes facilitate the Book Studies and Recovery meetings
  • Must be aware of patient locations, at all times, circulating around the facility on a regular basis and document hourly checks
  • Assure that all patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for each assignment
  • Supervise and sometime facilitate patient activities as directed
  • Assure the patients are in their rooms at the designated time in the evening
  • Oversee med line to prevent diversion and to de-escalate situations as they arise
  • Assist patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to physically walk
  • Assist the counselor as assigned and engage in appropriate documentation
  • Responsible for the adherence to all applicable policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist patients in overcoming their denial and resistance to treatment and completion of treatment goals
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports
  • Attend staff training and programs as directed
  • Assist nurses as directed by supervisor
  • Drive patients to and from appointments, to include patient outings, as directed
  • Drive to purchase patient sundries and miscellaneous items; including nicotine products as directed

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science, CRC, or CRSS preferred; one year experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact preferred
  • Candidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a basic understanding of the principles of chemical dependency recovery
  • Maintain records and have good communication skills
  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must be able to walk within the facility and on the grounds of the facility for approximately one (1) mile per every eight (8) hour shift
  • Must be able to continuously sit for approximately three (3) hours per eight (8) hour shift
  • Must be able to administer CPR and be certified
  • Must be able to see and hear constantly
  • Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations
  • Must be able to stand continuously in increments of 45 minutes to one (1) hour
  • If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence
