Job summary

SBT is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) in Agoura Hills, CA. This full‑time role supports safety, structure, and a therapeutic environment in a residential mental health setting, collaborating with clinical and medical teams to monitor clients and assist with daily routines. Shifts available: Swing 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM and Overnight 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM.

Compensation: $24 per hour. Requirements include CPR/First Aid certification, 6–12 months in behavioral health or residential

Qualifications

• 6–12 months of experience in behavioral health or residential treatment preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Strong communication and observation skills.
• Ability to stay calm in high-stress or crisis situations.
• Familiarity with EMRs (Kipu) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor clients through regular rounds and maintain awareness of their behavior, safety, and needs.
• Conduct and document room checks, client observations, and shift reports accurately and on time.
• Support clients with daily activities, including hygiene, mealtimes, and transitions between groups.
• Assist with new client admissions, orientations, and discharges.
• Escort clients to appointments or off-site programming when needed.
• Respond to crisis situations and escalate concerns to clinical/medical staff appropriately.
• Maintain a clean, orderly facility environment and report any safety or maintenance concerns.
• Enforce facility rules and boundaries while maintaining a professional and supportive approach.
• Support group activities, meal times, and community responsibilities as directed.
• Work collaboratively with the treatment team to provide consistent, compassionate care.

Position Summary:

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a key role in supporting the safety, structure, and overall therapeutic environment of clients receiving care in a mental health residential treatment setting. The BHT works closely with the clinical and medical teams to monitor clients, assist with daily routines, and ensure a secure, recovery-focused atmosphere during all phases of treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor clients through regular rounds and maintain awareness of their behavior, safety, and needs
• Conduct and document room checks, client observations, and shift reports accurately and on time
• Support clients with daily activities, including hygiene, mealtimes, and transitions between groups
• Assist with new client admissions, orientations, and discharges

• CPR/First Aid certification required
• Strong communication and observation skills
• Ability to remain calm in high-stress or crisis situations
• Familiarity with EMRs (e.g., Kipu) is a plus
• Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
