Job summary

Grandview Medical Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Tech to provide direct patient care in a behavioral health setting. The role supports treatment plans, monitors patient safety, and assists with daily living activities under licensed professionals.

The position requires 0–2 years of related experience, de-escalation skills, and strong observation and teamwork. This PRN daytime role offers weekend and holiday rotation in Birmingham, AL with opportunities to grow clinical skills.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in behavioral health, mental health, or healthcare setting preferred
• De-escalation training within 30 days of hire is required or preferred
• BCLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire is required or preferred
• Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care, assisting with daily activities, therapy interventions, and monitoring patient behavior.
• Observes, documents, and reports patient behaviors and responses to interventions to the healthcare team.
• Assists in implementing individualized treatment plans under supervision of behavioral health professionals.
• Engages patients in structured activities and therapeutic programming.
• Responds to crisis situations and applies safety interventions per facility protocols.
• Maintains safety procedures, conducts room checks, and prevents elopement or self-harm incidents.
• Performs vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and data documentation as required.
• Collaborates with nurses, therapists, and other clinicians to support patient progress.
