Job summary

Vitruvian Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to join our care teams across the northwest Georgia and southeast Tennessee region. You will monitor patients, support clinical staff, and assist with daily activities in clinical, residential, or outpatient settings.

Required education includes a high school diploma or GED, with preferred higher degrees in psychology or social work and relevant crisis intervention training.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is the baseline; associate's or bachelor's in psychology or social work preferred.
  • Experience in substance abuse treatment, mental health, or developmental disabilities highly desired.
  • CPR/First Aid certification and specialized crisis intervention training may be required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patients' moods, behaviors and vital signs; report significant changes to medical staff.
  • Provide 15-minute checks to monitor patient safety and well‑being.
  • De-escalate crises and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Assist with intake and discharge and support therapeutic activities and group sessions.

Every person. Every time.A Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is a vital frontline healthcare professional. They assist licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, and nurses in providing direct, hands-on care, monitoring patient progress, and implementing treatment plans in clinical, residential, or outpatient settings.Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Monitoring: Closely observe and document patients' moods, behaviors, and vital signs, reporting any significant changes to medical staff. Providing Q15mins checks for the patients.Crisis Intervention: Safely de-escalate aggressive or highly distressed individuals and manage psychiatric emergencies. BHT's are required to get SAMA training for de-escalation.Therapeutic Support: Provide emotional support, assist with coping strategies, and co-facilitate psychoeducational or recreational group sessions.Daily Living Assistance: Guide patients through activities of daily living (ADLs), such as hygiene management, eating, and basic life skills.Clinical Collaboration: Assist with the intake and discharge of patients and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment.Typical QualificationsEducation: A High School Diploma or GED is the standard baseline, though an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in psychology or social work is preferred.Experience: Prior experience in substance abuse treatment, mental health, or developmental disabilities is highly desired.Certifications: Many roles require or prefer CPR/First Aid certification and specialized crisis intervention training.
