Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health's Maryview Medical Center seeks a Behavioral Health Specialist to provide direct patient care under supervision, in accordance with regulations and hospital policies. You will support vital sign measurement, patient hygiene, mobility, and act as a liaison between the patient and nurse; you will also document care accurately and timely.

Education includes high school diploma; Bachelor’s preferred, with BLS/CNA/other licenses preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• 1 year of experience in mental health or healthcare setting preferred.
• Licensing/certifications preferred (BLS, STNA, CNA, SWA, CDCA, Counselor in Training, HS-BCP, AAPT).

Responsibilities

• Ensures quality patient care, provides vital sign measurement, maintains patient hygiene, assists with mobility, and supports unit-based specialty duties.
• Acts as liaison between the patient and nurse to report changes and share pertinent information.
• Provides accurate, precise, timely documentation when applicable for patient care.
• Completes patient rounding, fifteen minute patient checks, and patient safety companion services as assigned.
• Collects patient data and completes patient screening as applicable.
• Participates in continued education and in-service training.
