Job summary

Youth and Family Support Professional – Putnam County is seeking Behavioral Health Specialists to provide individualized services to youth and families in the foster care system enrolled in Children’s Waiver Services. This part-time role in Orange County emphasizes independent work and flexible community-based engagement.

Responsibilities include family advocacy, psychosocial rehabilitation, respite, pre-vocational and employment support, and crisis planning.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree in an approved DOH field and minimum 2 years’ experience (or Master’s +1 year).
• Ability to work independently and manage your schedule.
• Strong documentation and communication skills; comfort with electronic records.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support services to youth and families in foster care.
• Deliver Family Support & Advocacy, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, and Respite services as assigned.
• Support Pre-Vocational & Employment services and Community Advocacy & Training.
• Assist with Crisis Support & Treatment Planning and Day Habilitation activities.

We are looking for dedicated Behavioral Health Specialiststo provide individualized support services to youth and families in the foster care system who are enrolled in our Children’s Waiver Services program. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working independently and flexibly in the community. We have part-time positions available inOrange County.

What You’ll Do:

Depending on your experience and qualifications, you may provide one or more of the following services:

• Family Support & Advocacy: Help families access resources, strengthen parenting skills, and promote shared caregiving.
• Psychosocial Rehabilitation: Support youth in developing coping, communication, and daily living skills.
• Respite Services: Provide caregivers with essential breaks while engaging youth in meaningful activities.
• Pre-Vocational & Supportive Employment Services: Help teens 14+ prepare for and maintain employment.
• Community Advocacy & Training: Collaborate with schools and educate families on special education rights.
• Crisis Support & Treatment Planning: Develop proactive safety plans to reduce hospitalizations and out-of-home placements.
• Day Habilitation Services: Support children with developmental disabilities in developing life and social skills.

Salary based on which service you provide and range from $25.00/hr to $35.00/hr.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in an approved DOH field of study, AND a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children with mental/behavioral health needs;or a Master's degree in a related field and 1 year of experience.
