Job summary

RHA Health Services is hiring a Behavioral Health Specialist to provide strength-based support for individuals with mental health and substance use challenges in facility and community settings. You will implement PCP-directed interventions, help develop daily living and social skills, and coordinate with clinicians to ensure high-quality care.

The role requires a GED or high school diploma, at least one year of relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license with car insurance.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Minimum of one year documented experience with the population to be served or with the type of service preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and automotive insurance required.
• Pre-employment screening including criminal background checks (OIG exclusions, Child Abuse Registry, Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities).
• Proof of employment history or references if required.

Responsibilities

• Implements interventions outlined in the PCP in skills development, educational, and pre-vocational activities.
• Facilitates relationships and acts as a link between the company, families, guardians, and community.
• Minimizes negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or substance dependence on daily living and personal development.
• Supports clients in developing daily living, social, and adaptation skills and symptom/behavior management.
• Collaborates with clinical staff to maintain communication and standardize procedures.

We are hiring for: Behavioral Health Specialist Type: Regular

Provides support to individuals with Mental Health or Substance Abuse issues in the facility and community settings. These interventions are strength-based and focused on promoting recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and achievement of the highest level of functioning in the community. Relies on direction and supervision to provide quality services.

Job Responsibilities implements interventions outlined in the PCP in ANY of the following skills development, educational, and pre vocational activities

• a. community living, such as housekeeping, shopping, cooking, use of transportation facilities, money management;


• b. personal care such as health care, medication self-management, grooming;


• c. social relationships;


• d. use of leisure time;


• e. educational activities which include assisting the individual in securing needed education services such as adult basic education and special interest courses;


• f. prevocational activities which focus on the development of positive work habits and participation in activities that would increase the individual’s self-worth, purpose, and confidence;


• Facilitating relationships and serving as a link between the company, parents, guardians, friends, peers, local agencies and the community;


• Minimizing the negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or substance dependence that interfere with the recipient’s daily living and personal development;


• Supporting the client in the development of various skill building activities, including: daily and community living skills, socialization skills, adaptation skills, and symptom/behavior management;


• Working closely with other clinical/professional staff to maintain communication and providing feedback, standardizing procedures and expediting PCP implementation.

The Behavioral Health Specialist I is defined as an individual who has a GED or high school diploma Minimum of one year documented experience with the population to be served or with the type of service being provided preferred. Valid driver's license and automotive insurance required Pre-employment screening: Complete criminal background Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities) Drug testing Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements. Proof of employment history or references (if required) Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
