SCO Family of Service is seeking a qualified clinician for Madonna Heights Campus in Dix Hills, NY to deliver intensive interventions including individual, family, and relationship-focused counseling to support emotional and behavioral management.

The role emphasizes crisis avoidance, crisis planning, and rehabilitative psychoeducation, with trauma-informed, culturally competent practice and collaboration with all treatment providers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of applicable experience in children's mental health, addiction, and/or foster care/juvenile justice or other related human services field

Responsibilities

  • Deliver intensive interventions, including individual, family, and relationship-focused counseling, to support emotional and behavioral management, problem-solving, and the development of social, daily living, and independent living skills for increased stability and community adaptation.
  • Provide crisis avoidance services by helping children/youth and families recognize and manage triggers, develop crisis plans, and access appropriate support to maintain stability.
  • Offer intermediate-term crisis management through relationship-based support to families after a crisis, restoring stability in alignment with the crisis management plan.
  • Conduct rehabilitative psychoeducation to educate children/youth and families on strategies to reduce the impact of symptoms, emotional disturbances, substance use, and stressors on daily functioning, recovery, relationships, and community integration.
  • Facilitate strengths-based service planning to help children/youth and families identify strengths, resources, and goals to address mental health needs using natural support.
  • Provide rehabilitative support aimed at restoring and reducing the impact of behavioral health symptoms or emotional disturbances on daily living.
  • Deliver rehabilitation interventions and collaborative, hands-on training to build developmentally appropriate skills, support self-management of symptoms, and strengthen community integration through partnerships and mutual supports across home, work, school, and personal interests.
  • Ensure services are provided individually or in groups, following trauma-informed, culturally, and linguistically competent practices, with coordination among all treatment providers.
  • Maintain responsibilities such as timely documentation, participation in required meetings and training, immediate reporting of incidents, adherence to agency and regulatory standards, and upholding family choice and voice throughout all aspects of care.

Bachelor's degree and three years of applicable experience in children's mental health, addiction, and/or foster care/child welfare/juvenile justice or other related human services field, and no certification in an Evidenced Based Practice.
