Job summary

Legacy Community Health in Houston, TX seeks a Bilingual Behavioral Health Representative I to join our school-based team at YES Prep North Central Elementary.

You will assist with registrations, scheduling, EHR management, patient communications, and coordination of services while supporting providers and ensuring access to behavioral health for underserved communities.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English and Spanish is required.
  • CPR & AED certification (BLS) required.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
  • Experience with BH preferred (behavioral health).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication, both direct and via telephone.
  • Team-oriented with ability to collaborate across roles.
  • Ability to lead program management and growth within the Center and Community.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange language interpretation services for non-English speaking patients.
  • Assist new patients with registration and support on appointment days.
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR) and continuity of care lists.
  • Coordinate provider schedules and manage waitlists for Behavioral Health Services.
  • Process internal service orders for psychological testing and IBH.
  • Screen patients and complete risk assessments when necessary.
  • Obtain vital signs and enter data into the EHR.
  • Make reminder calls for unconfirmed appointments and manage voicemails.
  • Process prior authorizations for testing and medications.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry and mail/fax sorting.
  • Triage behavioral health emergencies and support related procedures.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and safety training.
  • Maintain a safe, professional work environment and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Cross-cover remotely and travel to other locations as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arrange language line interpretation services for non-English speaking patients, ensuring clear and respectful communication.
  • Assist new patients with registration and provide support on appointment days to create a seamless experience.
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR) and continuity of care lists to ensure smooth operations.
  • Coordinate provider schedules to optimize patient access and manage the waitlist for Behavioral Health Services.
  • Process and follow up on internal service orders for psychological testing and Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH).
  • Screen new and existing patients, completing risk assessments when necessary.
  • Obtain vital signs and accurately enter data into the EHR system.
  • Make reminder calls to patients with unconfirmed appointments and handle voicemail messages promptly.
  • Process prior authorizations for psychological testing and medications efficiently.
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, mail/fax sorting, and general office duties.
  • Assist in triaging behavioral health emergencies and support blood draws, injections, EKGs, and drug screens as needed.
  • Participate in mandatory staff meetings and safety training programs to stay informed and prepared.
  • Maintain a safe and professional work environment, adhering to company standards and safety protocols.
  • Cross-cover remotely and travel to other locations as required to support team operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BLS (CPR & AED) Certified required.
  • Three to six months of related experience preferred
  • One year certificate from college or technical school preferred
  • Familiarity with BH preferred.
  • Computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good direct and telephone communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team setting
  • Leadership ability for program management, growth, and development within the Center and the Community.
  • Communication/interpersonal skills to interact courteously and professionally with associates and customers of various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interact effectively with various community agencies and resources.
  • Coordinate multiple activities simultaneously
  • Bilingual English and Spanish speaking required.
