Job summary

MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, ME, is seeking a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse to join the 3 South inpatient unit at the Alfond Center for Health. This state-of-the-art unit focuses on compassionate, patient‑ and family‑centered care in a supportive environment.

As part of a multidisciplinary team you will plan, implement, and evaluate care, monitor patient status, coordinate transfers and discharges, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

  • Maine RN license required or ability to obtain promptly.
  • 1 year acute care RN experience with this patient population preferred.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
  • BLS and MOAB preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to operate in a high-stress healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on assessments.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition.
  • Coordinate care across disciplines for transfers, admissions, and discharges.

MaineGeneral is seeking a dedicated RN to join our team on 3 South, our inpatient behavioral health unit at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. This state-of-the-art unit was designed with the input of staff and patients and is a unique environment sustaining safe, innovative, and supportive care.

Job Description: The Role:

Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN)

As a behavioral health nurse, you will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining mental health, preventing psychiatric disorders, and assisting individuals in managing mental health conditions. At the core of our culture is a welcoming, therapeutic environment where our multidisciplinary treatment team believes patients are more than their diagnosis.

What You'll Do:
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, admissions, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluate the learning needs of the patient and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Effectively delegates and communicates patient care needs to ancillary personnel.
  • May precept student nurses and new hires.
Your Qualifications:
  • A valid state of Maine RN license or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion; (required)
  • 1 year of acute care RN experience serving this patient population; (preferred)
  • New graduates are welcome to apply!

Compensation Information:

$35.00 - $61.25 The hourly pay range shown represents the base pay range for this position. Individual pay is determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and market considerations. In addition to base pay, eligible team members may earn additional compensation through shift, weekend, holiday, on-call, and other applicable differentials.
