Job summary

LCMC Health, based in New Orleans, seeks a recreational therapist for behavioral health care. You will assess social needs, develop and implement therapy plans, and contribute to discharge planning to support timely patient transitions.

The role requires a BS in related fields and certifications such as Heart Saver/BLS and CPI by orientation. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential to provide patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• BS in rehabilitation, recreation therapy, physical education, music therapy, art therapy, drama therapy, horticultural therapy or psychology.
• Heart Saver or Basic Life Support, Required. CPI, Required at or before Orientation.

Responsibilities

• Completes recreational assessment, develops plans and carries out interventions for patients with psychosocial risk factors.
• Maintains a safe, organized recreational therapy room and conducts rounds to ensure safety.
• Provides short term counseling, refers to community resources, and documents in medical records.
• Participates in discharge planning to address social factors and ensure timely discharge.
