Job summary

MAP Health Management, LLC is seeking a Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist to provide advocacy, education, mentoring, and motivation using lived experience with behavioral health conditions and recovery from SUD. This 100% remote role includes onboarding and ongoing telehealth support for peers nationwide.

The candidate will manage a personal caseload, document encounters, and coordinate with leadership for solutions while upholding HIPAA guidelines and MAP values.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a state CPS is required for employment.
  • Nationally Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCPS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in behavioral health, SUD, or peer support environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, real-world support through modeling and coaching.
  • Relate personal lived experience with mental health recovery via telehealth with peers.
  • Oversee a personal caseload of peers and their support networks.

Primary Functions

As MAP’s Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist, yourprimary focus will be to offer lived experience with behavioral healthconditions and provide support focused on advocacy, education, mentoring, andmotivation. Our Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialists are trained toadvocate for their peers through the process of behavioral health recovery inways that are specific to the needs of each individual.

Responsibilities
  • Provideroutine, practical, real-world support in coping with life’s day-to-day demands through modeling and coaching.
  • Relayingpersonal, lived experience of your own mental health recovery based on anestablished plan via telephone/telehealth with peers.
  • Overseea personal caseload of peers, their families, and/or support system throughconsistent telephone/ telehealth sessions.
  • Maintaintimely and accurate documentation of patient encounters and data.
  • Effectivelymanage call queues and pre-scheduled calls in a timely, engaging, or meaningfulmanner.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with team members for MAP’s 24/7 after-hours line.
  • Assistpeers to identify additional resources to aid in their holistic recovery goals.
  • Assessany client issues, elevate as needed, and collaborate with leadership for solutions.
  • Maintaina professional and courteous image to MAP’s patients and fellow employees.
  • Participatein a well-paced and succinct manner in all staffing and company meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • Certification as a state Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPS) is required for employment.
  • Certification as a Nationally Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCPS) through Mental Health America preferred.
  • Minimum of one (3) years of experience working in behavioral health, substance use disorder, or peer support environments.

Musthave lived experience with a mental health condition.

Mustbe active and stable in mental health recovery.

Musthave high emotional intelligence and ability to process insight and receivefeedback.

Crisissavvy with the ability to remain level-headed when in an emergent situation.

Abilityto set boundaries with the understanding that personal disclosure may impedeyour own recovery journey.

Maintaina lifestyle that promotes continued mental, physical, and spiritual healththrough appropriate stress management.

Anability to maintain healthy interpersonal relationships and make connectionswith others.

Abilityto appropriately process change through effective communication initiatives.

Anunderstanding of and sensitivity to the challenges facing individuals andfamilies affected by behavioral health in a manner that is accepting and freeof stigma.

Mustmeet MAP’s Teleworking requirements and expectations, which include itemssuchas a quiet designated office space with a locked door and access to high-speedinternet.
