Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma; Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services or related field desired.
• 2+ years of experience working with youth required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to work with a diverse population.
• Ability to use a computer, proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License and maintain insurable driving record; travel to client homes required.

Responsibilities

• Provides temporary relief for Foster caregivers for 3-5 hours at least once per month.
• Supports behavior management: help clients toward treatment goals and model appropriate skills.
• Implements the 6 R’s strategies and uses Collaborative Problem Solving.
• Responds to crises and de-escalation as needed.
• Engages with client families and maintains professional interactions.
• Interacts with clients within TVN’s trauma-informed models.
• Performs other duties as required; adjusts workload to ensure responsibilities are met.

Essential Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Supports and provides temporary relief for caregivers for 3-5 hours at least once per month.
• Provides behavior management in the following ways:
  • Supporting client’s efforts toward treatment goals
  • Role model and teaching appropriate skills and behaviors
  • Implement the 6 R’s strategies when working with clients
  • Utilize Collaborative Problem Solving
• Responsible for assisting with crisis de-escalation as needed.
• Engages with client family members.
• Presents in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions.
• Interacts with clients within TVN’s trauma informed models.
• Temporarily assists in the transportation needs.
• Reports suspected abuse and neglect
• Employs appropriate behavior support techniques
• Refrains from using physical and degrading punishment
• Performs other duties as required.
• Workloads shall be reviewed on an ongoing basis and adjusted as necessary to ensure employees can adequately fulfill their assigned responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Requires a High School Diploma; Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services or related field desired.
• 2+ years of experience working with youth required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to work with a diverse population
• Ability to use a computer, proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License and maintains a driving record that allows that individual to be insurable with the insurance company providing The Village Network with vehicle insurance. In addition, travel to homes of clients/students is necessary.

Physical Demands

• Ability to comply with The Village Network requirements for using restraints including sufficient strength and completion of extensive training.
• Ability to handle bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds independently.
• Must be able to remain alert to problems, needs or emergencies that might arise on any shift, maintaining a safe environment for the clients.
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with all levels or personnel, internal and external to the company.
