Job summary

PENQUIS in Bangor, Maine, is seeking a Behavioral Health Home Support Specialist. This part-time, 30-hour-per-week position offers daytime hours with the potential to become full-time and will service Penobscot & Piscataquis counties.

You will apply your recovery experience to support participants in long-term recovery, within a hybrid work arrangement. Qualified candidates must hold CIPSS certification (or provisional) within 9 months of hire, have a Maine driver’s license and meet background

Qualifications

• Must have CIPSS Certification or receive Provisional CIPSS Certification within nine (9) months of hire date.
• State of Maine driver's license in good standing and reliable insured transportation.
• Willing to identify as someone who has received mental health services to support others.
• 12 months of work experience or less is required.

Responsibilities

• Apply recovery tools and personal experience to build connections as part of the Behavioral Health Home (BHH) team.
• Model recovery-oriented behaviors and share skills/resources that aided in personal or family recovery.
• Assist clients in identifying personal goals and understanding their rights and responsibilities as recipients of mental health services.
• Provide access to recovery tools and resources (books, internet, pamphlets, etc.) as appropriate.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $18.02-$23.43.

Join Our Team!Penquis, a trusted social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is seeking a Behavioral Health Home Support Specialist with Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS) certification, to join our Family Enrichment Services/Behavioral Health Home team. This is a part-time position (30 hours per week, Monday–Friday, daytime hours) with the potential of turning into full-time, working in Penobscot & Piscataquis counties.As a Behavioral Health Home Specialist, you will serve as a role model, mentor, and source of motivation to support participants in achieving long-term recovery. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to sharing personal experiences and collaborating with coworkers and community providers.

Responsibilities

• Apply the tools developed in own recovery as well as the philosophy and values, to build a connection while participating as an active member of the Behavioral Health Home (BHH) Team.
• While maintaining appropriate boundaries, serve as a role model, sharing what skills, strengths, supports and resources that have been helpful in your own or family recovery, as well as modeling the likelihood of recovery to colleagues.
• Assist clients in identifying personal goals and understanding their rights and responsibilities as recipients of mental health services.
• Provide access to recovery tools available to peers (books, internet, social networking, pamphlets, etc.) as appropriate.

Requirements

• Individual who is receiving or has received services and supports related to the diagnosis of a mental illness, is in recovery from that illness and who is willing to self-identify on this basis with BHH members.
• Must have State of Maine Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS) Certification or receive Provisional CIPSS Certification within nine (9) months of hire date.
• High school diploma or equivalent and up to 12 months of work experience.
• Meet the annual State of Maine requirements to maintain certification.
• Available to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the clients and families.
• Must have a valid State of Maine driver's license in good standing and reliable insured transportation.
• Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
