Job summary

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician to deliver comprehensive mental health and substance use treatment within supportive housing settings. You will conduct assessments, develop and monitor treatment plans, and provide individual and group therapy as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote stability and independence.

Required is a Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field, with current provisional licensure

• LAC certification preferred.

Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Clinician provides comprehensive mental health and substance use treatment services to individuals in supportive housing or residential settings. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, delivering individual and group therapy, and offering clinical interventions to promote stability, recovery, and independent living. The clinician collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to address the complex needs of individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges, trauma, and housing instability, utilizing evidence-based practices to support overall well-being and prevent a return to homelessness.

Duties/Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify behavioral health needs, including mental health and substance use issues.
• Use evidence-based tools for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Oversee the work of pre-licensed behavioral health clinicians.
• Deliver evidence-based individual and group therapy tailored to client needs, focusing on mental health and substance use recovery.
• Create, monitor, and update individualized treatment plans with client-centered goals and measurable outcomes.
• Provide support and intervention during crises, stabilizing clients and connecting them with additional resources as needed.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate and timely client records, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards.
• Help clients access community resources (housing, employment, education) that support their wellness and recovery goals.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay updated on best practices in behavioral health through professional development sessions.
• Ensure timely & accurate recording of all clinical/non-clinical services, communications, and tasks in the EHR and other systems as required while maintaining complete up-to-date charts and any future upgrades as directed.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.

Education, Licensure and Certifications

• Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field required.
• Current provisional licensure as an LCSW, LMFT or LPC.
• Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) certification is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of one year of experience working in health care or human services field.
• Experience working with individuals who have experienced homelessness, trauma, and/or chronic health conditions.

Job Competencies

• Demonstrated ability to deliver services using principles of trauma informed care
• Demonstrated ability to conduct assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning using evidence-based practices.
• Proficiency in providing individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and de-escalation support.
• Strong ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically to clients, colleagues, and external partners.
• Competency in maintaining accurate, timely documentation in EHR in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
• Capacity to build rapport with clients and establish effective working relationships with interdisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge and understanding of diverse populations, with the ability to integrate cultural and socio-economic factors into treatment approaches.
• Commitment to ethical standards, professional boundaries, confidentiality and regulatory compliance, including HIPAA.
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage caseloads within established timelines.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Working Conditions

The Behavioral Health Clinician primarily role involves regular exposure to potentially high-stress situations, as clients may be experiencing mental health crises or trauma. They could be asked to provide services in a wide variety of environments which could include encountering unpleasant odors or challenging environments, especially when visiting certain client residences. Work hours are Monday - Friday day shifts but may require flexibility to accommodate client needs.
