Job summary

RHA Health Services, LLC seeks a Behavioral Health Certified Peer Support Specialist to deliver community-based recovery support for individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. You will promote self-determination, provide coping strategies, and act as a recovery role model within the team and with clients.

The role emphasizes individualized, strength-based interventions and collaboration to help clients regain control of their recovery in the community.

The Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) Certified Peer Support Specialist: Provides highly individualized services in the community and promotes individual self-determination and decision-making to individuals with Mental Health or Substance Abuse issues. Certified Peer Support Specialists also provide essential expertise and consultation to the entire team to promote a culture in which each individual’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities. This position may serve as an advocate for the person supported. Performs a wide range of tasks to assist the people supported in regaining control over their own recovery processes. These interventions are strength-based and focused on promoting recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and achievement of the highest level of functioning in the community. Functions as a role model of competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills.

Pay: $20/hr. + dependent upon experience.

$2000 Stay bonus in 3 increments:

3 months: $400

6 months: $400

12 months: $1200

Schedule: Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend coverage and on-call responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Leading peer support groups with individuals served
• Supporting/assisting individuals in daily decision making and resolution of minor problems
• Facilitating social opportunities in the community
• Fostering development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities
• Sharing personal story of recovery and resilience to instill hope

Position Requirements:

• Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in PA
• 1 year experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues preferred
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation

Pre-employment screening:

• Complete criminal background
• Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
• Drug testing
• Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
• Proof of employment history or references (if required)
• Positions that require driving Proof of driver’s license, driver’s insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
