Behavioral Assistant (BA)

Align Behavioral Health | Morris County, NJ | Part time | Flexible after school and evening hours

What you will do
  • Work directly with youth ages 5 through 20 in their home and community, carrying out the behavioral goals from the treatment plan
  • Model, coach, and practice skills in the moment: routines, coping strategies, communication, following expectations
  • Help youth regulate and recover safely when behavior escalates, and coach caregivers to carry the strategies forward when you are not there
  • Write a progress note for every session and submit it in CYBER within the agency timeframe
  • Attend Child Family Team meetings when requested and check in regularly with the assigned IIC clinician
  • Work under the supervision of appropriate clinical staff, as required by N.J.A.C. 10:77
What you need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • At least one year of relevant experience in a comparable environment, meaning post high school work supporting the behavioral or mental health needs of youth
  • Valid NJ driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • Availability for after school and evening hours
  • Patience, follow through, and comfort working inside family homes
What counts as relevant experience

Your year does not have to come from a clinical job title, and it does not have to be paid. Internships and volunteer work count when the involvement was substantive and ongoing. Examples of experience that typically qualifies:

  • Teacher's aide, paraprofessional, or one to one aide supporting students with behavioral or emotional needs
  • Direct care or residential staff in a group home, shelter, or treatment program serving youth
  • Behavior technician, RBT, or ABA support staff
  • Youth worker in a partial care, day treatment, or after school program serving youth with behavioral health needs
  • Personal care assistant or support staff for youth with developmental disabilities
  • Mentoring or case aide work with at risk youth
  • A substantive internship or practicum supporting youth behavioral health

General childcare, babysitting, retail, and food service do not meet the standard on their own. If you are not sure whether your background counts, apply and tell us what you did. We will look at it.

Preferred, not required
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, education, human services, or a related field
  • BA certification already completed, or prior CSOC experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish
What we provide
  • Onboarding, CYBER and documentation training, and shadowing before you work independently
  • BA certification enrollment. Certification must be completed within 60 days of hire.
  • Ongoing supervision and support from a licensed clinician
  • Real experience for anyone heading toward an MSW, counseling program, or ABA work
  • Flexible scheduling built around your availability
Pay

$25-35 per hour (W2), depending on experience
