Job summary

Burnett Therapeutic Services is seeking entry-level Behavior Technicians to work 1:1 with children in home or clinic settings in the San Rafael area. The role focuses on building communication, social, and daily living skills through structured activities.

We offer paid onboarding, 40-hour RBT training, and opportunities to advance to BCBA supervision. Flexible part-time schedules can accommodate student or caregiver needs.

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience working or volunteering with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Must complete a 40-hour RBT training course prior to employment.
• RBT certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment or already held.
• Must have CPR & First Aid Certification (or willing to obtain).
• Background check and pre-employment health requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-on-one behavior support to build communication and social skills.
• Implement behavior intervention plans designed by BCBA professionals.
• Collect and record data on client progress accurately.
• Communicate with families to provide progress updates and support.

Job Type: PART-TIME

Schedule: Monday to Sunday, 2-8pm. Must have afternoon and evening availability.

Work Setting: In-home or In-clinic

Compensation: $20–$24/hour, based on experience and training received. Increase after you obtain your Training and RBT certification!

You’ll support children in developing communication, problem-solving, and social skills. We’re hiring entry-level candidates as well as certified Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) who are ready to grow their careers.

What You’ll Do

As a Behavior Technician at BTS, you’ll work 1:1 with children with autism or developmental delays to build communication, social, play, and daily living skills through structured, play-based activities. Sessions take place in the child’s home, clinic, or school, lasting 2–3 hours. We tailor your caseload to fit your availability and match you with age groups you’re comfortable with, from toddlers to teens.

Your Responsibilities Include

• Delivering one-on-one behavior support through fun, individualized activities
• Implementing behavior intervention plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)
• Collecting and recording data on client progress accurately
• Communicating regularly with families to provide updates and support
• Participating in ongoing training, team meetings, and supervision sessions

Qualifications

• Positive, enthusiastic attitude and a passion for working with children
• 6 months of experience working or volunteering with individuals with intellectual disabilities is a must.
• Preferred: Current student or recent graduate in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Sociology, Biology, or related field.
• Highly Preferred: Candidates with an RBT, ABAT, or BCAT certification, or those who have already completed an ABA Paraprofessional training certificate (RBT, BCAT, ABAT) training course and hold a certificate.
• Spanish-speaking is a plus!
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
• Reliability and a willingness to work with a variety of clients

  • A 30-hour (or more) ABA training certificate
  • A training log signed by a BCBA verifying at least 30 hours of ABA training

• Must obtain RBT certification within 6 months of employment as a condition of continued employment, or maintain an active BCAT or ABAT certification.

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• This job requires reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance.
• This job requires a CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain during onboarding)
• This job requires a TB test (within 90 days), MMR & Varicella Immunization, and a Pre-employment Physical (within the past year).
