Job summary

Grafton in Winchester, VA seeks a Behavior Technician to work under supervision, delivering ABA-based services to children and families in homes or community settings.

You will collect progress data, maintain records, and support treatment plans under a BCBA, with training and mentorship provided.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • RBT certification within 6 months of hire
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services or a related field OR Associates degree and 3 months experience
  • High school diploma and 6 months experience with children
  • Experience with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, implement ABA-based treatment plans
  • Provide direct delivery of behavioral services to children and families
  • Maintain accurate case notes and data for analysis and billing
  • Collaborate with BCBA and clinical administrator on progress and program updates
  • Collect progress data and create teaching materials
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate supervision meetings
  • Communicate treatment progress to families and guardians
  • Assist in trainings and mentoring of new staff

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the BehaviorSpecialist/Behavior Technicianis responsible fordirect delivery of behavioral services to children and families/caregivers.This positionmaintainsaccuraterecord keeping of case notes and communicateswith supervisingBoard-CertifiedBehaviorAnalystabout the program and the progress of the treatment planfor individuals served.The positionwillutilizethe strategies and principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to manage a caseload ofclients andwork withtheirfamilies byprovidingservices in family homesor otherappropriate settings.Reports toa Clinical Administratoror aBoard-CertifiedBehavior Analyst (BCBA).

Essential Job Functions

  • Works under the supervision of a BCBA to collaborativelyestablishand/or implement a treatment plan based on a functional assessment.
  • Provide direct delivery of the behavioral services to the children and families by implementing goals andobjectivesto ensure safety and engagement inappropriate instructional, leisure, and daily living activities within a natural environment and under the supervision of a BCBA.
  • May prepare written assessments, assessing service recipients from multiple perspectives, including family functioning, social, academic, and behavioral, skills, strengths, barriers self-sufficiency, treatment history, and others, andutilizingvarious assessment instruments asappropriate.
  • Implement language and academic programs by collecting individual progress data,maintainingprogram books, and creating teaching materials.
  • Document case activities or other required daily documentation for both data analysis and billing purposes in a timely manner.
  • Schedule and keep scheduled appointments to support family with implementing behavior intervention in home and schedule and keep supervision meetings with BCBA for supervision and as needed.
  • Discuss treatment progress, supports family in implementing in-home behavior strategies that support the treatment plan, and responds to parents and/ or guardiansregardingoperations, events, incidents, etc.
  • Attends job specific conferences and/or training as scheduled, andassistsin the trainings and mentoring ofnew staff
  • Communicate effectively about all ideas,successesor concerns
  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Any applicant who is not RBT certified at hire will be given 6 months to obtain certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, humanservicesor a relatedfield OR
  • Associatesdegree and 3 months experience working with children required OR
  • High school diploma and 6 months experience working with childrenrequired
  • Prior experience working with children with developmental and/or intellectual disabilitiespreferred
  • Experience in writing Positive Behavior Support plans and in designing and evaluating behavioral interventionspreferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and outstanding social skills
  • Solid reporting skills and impartial assessment skills are essential

COMPENSATION

  • Starting at $21.38 up to $28.04/hour based on years of experience.
  • Depending on hoursworked you may be eligible for Grafton's shift differential that is currently being offered.
