Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States (VOA) is seeking a part-time, hourly, non-exempt staff member to provide training, assistance and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and behavioral challenges within the Development Disabilities program.

Responsibilities include implementing behavior support plans, responding to crises, and mentoring individuals in daily living skills while promoting dignity, integrity and diversity in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities with behavioral needs and mental health conditions.
• Valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance.
• Experience providing care; toileting, bathing, etc. preferred.
• Previous experience working with clients with high behaviors preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development and positive implementation of individual’s plans.
• Facilitate consistent implementation of the Behavior Support Plan and IST; teach replacement skills and reduce problematic behaviors using positive supports.
• Respond to emergency situations as trained and per Mandatory Training.
• Maintain a positive, engaged, and therapeutic environment through ongoing training.
• Assist with personal care as required and ensure clients are treated with dignity and respect.
