Hands of Heartland, Inc. in Council Bluffs, IA is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to work with individuals who have developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges.

The full-time role requires dependable, compassionate direct support professionals with at least two years of related experience or a degree/certification related to behavioral health. This position offers competitive wages with 7 paid holidays and tuition reimbursement for full-time team members.

Competenze

• Must be certified in enhanced behavioral intervention.
• Valid driver's license.
• Able to pass registry and background checks.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
• Able to use verbal and physical intervention to redirect and/or to complete an emergency safety intervention with a person who is physically aggressive or self-abusive.
• Prefer at least two years of related experience or a degree/certification related to behavioral health.

Mansioni

• Provide services to address the wants and needs of people with developmental disabilities, which may include: supporting personal goals.
• Administering medications.
• Planning and preparing meals.
• Assisting with activities of daily living.
• Transporting to and from day program and community outings.
• Reinforcing therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy.
• Ensuring all needs are addressed in a respectful manner with dignity and personal choice.
• Completing and maintaining required documentation on a web-based system.
