Job summary

YES Prep Houston, TX seeks a Behavior Support Assistant to join a mission-driven team in a 10-month, hourly role supporting students with behavior and social-emotional needs. The position reports to the Dean of Students and Director of Student Support.

You will implement lower-level interventions, track behavior data, assist teachers with management, and help create a safe, inclusive environment across campuses.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience working with students and student behavior.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback.
• Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment.
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.

Responsibilities

• Execute lower-level behavior interventions with students of concern.
• Progress monitor student behavior trackers.
• In-class push ins/pull outs to help with de-escalation and coping skills.
• Monitor students in detention and in-school suspension.
• Perform discipline data entry.
• Assist Teachers with the supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Assist Teachers with behavior management techniques by modeling and reinforcing desired behaviors.
• Monitor students during transition times throughout the school day, inside and outside of the classroom.
• Monitor in-school suspension.
• Hold students accountable to campus behavioral expectations and administer appropriate consequences.
• Additional duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION: $13.77 - $17.12 an hour

THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:

• Executing lower-level behavior interventions with students of concern, including check-ins and check-outs, student reflections and de-escalation;
• Helping progress monitor student behavior trackers;
• Conducting in-class push ins/pull outs to help with de-escalation and coping skills;
• Monitoring students in detention and in-school suspension;
• Performing discipline data entry;
• Assisting Teachers with the supervision of students in all instructional settings;
• Assisting Teachers with behavior management techniques by demonstrating, modeling, and positively reinforcing desired behaviors;
• Monitoring students during transition times throughout the school day, inside and outside of the classroom, including hallways, cafeteria, gym, and other areas where students are present;
• Monitoring in-school suspension;
• Holding students accountable to campus behavioral expectations and administer appropriate consequences;
• Additional duties as assigned.

• Compensation – This position is a non-exempt, hourly position; salary offers commensurate with experience.
