Job summary

Salt Lake City School District seeks a Youth in Care (YIC) Behavior Specialist to respond to high-intensity behavior requests, consult with schools, and support MTSS implementation, especially at the Universal and Targeted levels.

The role requires licensure, a related bachelor's degree, and several years of K-12 teaching experience, with preferred ESL and BCBA credentials. Grant-funded and on-site with the YIC unit.

Qualifications

• Active Utah teaching license or transferable license.
• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• 3+ years licensed K-12 classroom experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Consult with schools to build capacity for universal and targeted behavior support.
• Provide crisis support and technical assistance for behavior incidents.
• Co-create MTSS rubric for YIC placements and align with guidance.
• Maintain progress-monitoring data for interventions and placements.
• Lead behavior interventions districtwide and support SPED procedures.
• Attend weekly district and school meetings related to YIC.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders to promote student growth and development.
• Ensure compliance with laws and district policies for YIC.
• Provide professional development for staff on MTSS and behavior.
• Coordinate behavioral services across all schools.
