Job summary

The Lansing School District is seeking a Behavior Specialist to provide Tier 2 and 3 behavioral support across its schools. The role involves collaborating with interventionists to ensure students are fully supported on their path to graduation and beyond.

The highly qualified specialist will implement tiered behavior strategies, track student outcomes, and coordinate services for students and families in an urban school setting. Strong data skills and multilingual abilities are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or currently hold an LSEA hourly position.
• Strong data analysis skills related to student outcomes and attendance.
• Experience building relationships with racially diverse, economically diverse, and linguistically diverse students.
• Previous experience developing and implementing behavior programs in a school setting.
• Commitment to the Lansing School District mission and vision.
• Previous teaching, coaching, and/or student support experience in an urban school setting.
• Proficient in Excel, Google Sheets, and Synergy (among other systems).
• Proficient in languages beyond English (in order to potentially communicate with students and parents who speak languages such as Spanish, Hindi, or Arabic).
• Develop and implement tiered behavior support systems in collaboration with school administrators.
• Build positive relationships with students.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators for student support related to academics.
• Provide student feedback and track student data.
• Coordinate services and resources for students and families both in and out of the school building.
• Other tasks as assigned by the building administrators.

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring a Behavior Specialist. Behavior Specialists provide support related to behavior for identified students. They collaborate with other interventionists in the building to ensure all students are fully supported on their path to graduation and beyond.

The highly Qualified Behavioral Specialist will provide supplemental Tier 2 and 3 supports to students, work on problem solving to reduce discipline issues, provide small group sessions with students, and support the schools CRPBIS implementation.
