Job summary

Anova Education is seeking a Behavior Specialist for the Happiness House – Geneva site. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with a school-year schedule.

You will collaborate with program directors to implement ABA strategies, support teachers, and provide staff training on behavioral interventions. The position requires NYS certification as a LBA/BCBA, 3+ years working with young children with developmental disabilities, and a valid NYS driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Licensed Behavior Analyst/Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification required
• Three years experience preferred with young children with developmental disabilities and families
• Experience in early childhood development and family intervention preferred
• Knowledge of community resources including typical preschool programs

Responsibilities

• Imparts agency philosophy of Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential to children, families, staff and resources
• Apply ABA concepts to support challenging behaviors in school settings
• Maintain confidentiality as per policy
• Provide consultation, in-service and training to staff as needed
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to conduct functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans
• Meet regularly with classroom staff to discuss students, behavior plans and IEP goals
• Provide ongoing observation and consultation to classrooms
• Design behavior programs for individual children
• Oversee implementation of behavior management programs
• Collaborate with agency specialists to support programming across sites
• Support staff and parents with training and materials for behavioral programs
• Attend CPSE meetings as needed and participate in Human Rights Committee meetings as needed
• Supervise student interns and volunteers as appropriate
• Participate in conferences and in-service trainings for skill development
• Adhere to agency policies and department guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors

Behavior Specialist

Location: Happiness House - Geneva site

Pay Range: $55,000 - $71,000 per year

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time/school year position (37.5 hours per week). Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during business hours. Evening work may be required as job duties demand. This position follows the school calendar with vacations coinciding with school breaks. Summer 6-week session is included in school year employment.

Summary/Objective: The Behavior Specialist working for Happiness House will work collaboratively with the Director of Evaluations and the Children’s Program Director to perform duties as described below. The Behavior Specialist will work to build rapport with the Preschool Staff so appropriate services are being provided by staff on site. In addition to performing the essential functions of the Behavior Specialist position, other training opportunities may arise due to the need for staff training across all affiliated agencies.

Required Education and Experience

1. NYS Certification as a Licensed Behavior Analyst/Board Certified Behavior Analyst
2. Three years experience, preferably working with young children with developmental disabilities and their families.

4. Knowledge of available community resources, including typical preschool programs.
5. Valid NYS driver’s license

Essential Functions:

1. Imparts agency philosophy of 'Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential' to children, families, program staff, and community resources.
2. Possess in-depth knowledge of A.B.A. concepts, practices, techniques, and is fluent at providing each in a school setting to help support challenging behaviors within individual classroom and common school environments.
3. Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
4. Provides consultation, in-service, and training to teachers, clinicians, and other staff members as needed.
5. Collaborates with the classroom teachers and staff to conduct functional behavior assessment, as well as the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans required by agency guidelines and New York State regulations for behavioral concerns.
6. Meets on a regular scheduled basis with classroom staff, including general education and special education teachers, to discuss students, behavior documentation/plans, and overall IEP goals.
7. Provides consultation and direct observation to all classrooms on a regular basis.
8. Designs behavior programs as needed for individual children.
9. Oversees implementation of behavior management programs and behavioral philosophy throughout programs.
10. Collaborates with agency specialists to support programming and educational needs of students and staff across agency sites.
11. Provides support and consultation to staff as needed through training of staff, preparation of materials, and facilitating the implementation of individualized and/or classroom-wide behavioral programming.
12. Provides support and consultation to parents as needed to address developmental milestones and behavioral strategies that may be applicable for the home environment.
13. Meets regularly with Director of Evaluations and Children’s Program Director(s) to discuss child, family, classroom, and department concerns, needs, and strengths.
14. Attends CPSE meetings as needed in consultation with Director of Evaluations and Children’s Program Director
15. Attends Human Right Committee meetings as needed for Children’s or other agency needs
16. Supervises student interns and volunteers when appropriate.
17. Participates in conferences, workshops, and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.
18. Adheres to Agency’s policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.
19. Performs other duties at the discretion of the Director of Evaluations, Children’s Program Director, or designee.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day but employee will be expected to work at any of our partner agencies. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
