Job summary

Cajon Valley Union School District is seeking a Behavior Intervention Specialist to support students with emotional disabilities and behavior challenges. Under supervision of an administrator and credentialed staff, you will help develop, implement and model behavior and instructional support plans and apply positive behavior strategies to reinforce learning.

Ideal candidates have at least 48 college units in related fields, one year of experience with the target student population, and

Job Summary

Under the supervision of an assigned administrator and direction of a credentialed staff member , assist in developing, implementing and modeling behavior and instructional support plans to meet individual student needs and reinforce learning activities; perform a variety of specialized learning techniques, communication strategies, and applied behavioral activities or techniques pertaining to the instruction of students with emotional disabilities, behavior disorders and/or mental health challenges; assist in modeling the use of positive behavior support and intervention techniques for other staff; assist in data collection related to academic and/or behavioral information. The incumbents in this classification assist in providing students with instructional and behavioral support which directly supports student learning.


Requirements / Qualifications

Any combination of:



  • 48 college semester units; in child development, education, psychology, sociology, human development and counseling or related field.

  • One year work experience working with children with emotional disabilities, behavior disorders and/or mental health challenges.

  • Knowledge of behavior intervention techniques, strategies and positive reinforcement

Located in east San Diego County. The district is 66.3 square miles in size, and serves elementary students in grades K-8 feeding into the Grossmont Union High School District. The district has approximately 16,600 students, plus approximately 800 preschool students, with 26 schools (6 middle schools, 19 elementary schools and 1 preschool). The District is largely urban in nature with some rural areas. Regardless of what our employees’ needs are, we meet them with the personalized attention only a caring school district can provide.
