Job summary

Children’s Colorado seeks a Behavioral Health Clinician to provide direct patient care and safety for children, adolescents, and families across Outpatient, Inpatient, or ED settings. The position requires a Master’s degree in psychology or social work with licensure in Colorado and experience in mental health settings.

• At least 2 years of experience in a mental health setting/agency.
• Active BLS/CPR certification and Colorado licensure per DORA (LPC/LCSW/Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor).

Responsibilities

• Cover Emergency Department in person and remotely.
• Develop and implement treatment/intervention plans for children and adolescents.
• Conduct needs assessments and gather patient information.
• Provide crisis interventions and support discharge to home and stabilization.
• Prepare case notes, treatment plans, and evaluations complying with state/federal standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to monitor treatment goals.

Job description

The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for direct patient care and safety including diagnostic, assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for children, adolescents, and their families in Outpatient, Inpatient or Emergency Department settings.

Job Status: PRN, As Needed.
Shift: This position is PRN and provides coverage for all shifts (7am-7pm, 1pm-1am, 7pm-7am). Expectation is to regularly work shifts throughout the month. 12 hour shifts, weekdays and weekends, days, evenings, and overnights.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for covering Emergency Department in person and remotely
• Provides direct patient care and management of children and adolescents by developing and implementing treatment and intervention plans and conducting needs assessment to gather patient information.
• Provides crisis intervention to families and provides interventions with families to support discharge to home and stabilization. Also develops a therapeutic relationship with patients and families to assist with psychological problems.
• Completes diagnostic behavioral health assessments for treatment or crisis intervention. Compiles and analyzes data and prepares case records, reports, and documents that comply with state and federal standards in providing case notes, treatment plans, and evaluations.
• Collaborates with other disciplines or departments on patient care and unit safety and serves as a liaison with multi-disciplinary care teams and external community agencies to identify, implement, and monitor treatment goals. Presents case presentations and provides consultation to medical teams and callers.
• Coordinates admissions to programs within the Pediatric Mental Health Institute or community programs and coordinates treatment with internal and external services.
• Leads, monitors, evaluates, and collaborates educational and therapeutic groups for patients; participates in clinical rounds and maintains communication with unit or department leadership.
• Attends educational in-services for Behavioral Health Clinicians
• Participates in unit committees and educational offerings; complies with all policies and procedures related to the Pediatric Mental Health Institute and the hospital; and provides customer service as related to the Mental Health field.

Licenses & Certifications

• Acceptable BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire.
• State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA):
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor;
• Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Rate of Pay: $45.93
