Job description

For more than 50 years, Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) has provided compassionate, accessible, and high-quality care to individuals and families across Washington and Orange County communities. We support individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use issues, and developmental and intellectual disabilities through services delivered in community, school, and healthcare settings. Our mission is rooted in collaboration, inclusion, and helping individuals and families achieve positive outcomes.

About the Role

WCMHS is seeking a Behavioral Consultant to help children and youth experiencing significant emotional and behavioral challenges build the skills and confidence they need to succeed at home, in school, and in their communities.

Working under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or senior clinical staff, you'll apply evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles to assess behavioral needs, develop individualized support plans, and guide teams in their implementation. Through collaboration with families, educators, case managers, and mental health professionals, you'll help turn evidence-based practices into meaningful, lasting progress for the young people we serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and direct behavioral assessments for referred children and youth under the supervision of a BCBA or senior clinical staff.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and revise individualized behavior support plans.
  • Manage or co-manage behavioral planning for an average of 10 assigned cases.
  • Train and supervise staff in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of behavior support plans.
  • Provide ongoing behavioral consultation to WCMHS case managers and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Offer consultation and guidance to families as directed.
  • Participate in educational and clinical teams across school, community, and mental health settings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with relevant coursework or substantial experience in an ABA-based program OR enrollment in a graduate-level program that meets the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s (BACB) coursework requirements for BCBA eligibility.
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis principles and their practical application.
  • Valid driver's license, excellent driving record, and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Proficiency in delivering services and completing treatment documentation in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of professional experience in the field.

Compensation and Benefits

WCMHS offers a competitive starting salary and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and work-life balance.

  • Starting salary: $54,000-$63,500 annually.
  • Health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Retirement: Generous employer retirement contribution match.
  • Paid time off: 12.5 holidays per year and 12 paid sick days accrued during the first year of employment. School-based positions may include additional paid time off based on position-specific factors and school calendars.

Services are provided in school and community settings. This position involves frequent transportation of clients in your personal vehicle, occasional physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds, and the ability to apply approved physical restraints in accordance with agency training and guidelines
