Paraprofessionals must meet oneof the following qualifications:
- Have 2 years of college credits, or
- Have a college degree, or
- Pass theParaProPraxis Assessment with a score of 457 or higher, or the Idaho Paraprofessional Testing Alternative with a score of 75% or higher.
Idaho Paraprofessional Testing Alternative dates are offered throughout the year for West Ada Paraprofessionals. If you do not meet the college credit/degree requirement or have not yet passed the Praxis, you will be signed up for the Idaho Paraprofessional Assessment upon hire. The test must be passed within 90 days of your start date.

PURPOSE
Assists the Academic and Behavior Center teacher for at-risk students with behavior and academic needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of an employee in this class is to provide administrative and classroom support to an assigned by program teacher. The position is directly supervised by the Academic and Behavior teacher, withdirectionfrom the building Principal. The primary duties of the position are performed in an office and classroom environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Performs administrative and classroom assistance functions to support teacher
- Provides tutoring, individual and group assistance, anddirectiontoeligiblestudents;
- Prepares and implements lessonplans;
- Assists with level testing to determine studenteligibility;
- Processes registration, attendance, evaluation, and related records for eligiblestudents;
- Prepares and maintains files, records, logs, reports, and other required programdocumentation;
- Performs administrative tasks including, but not limited to, keyboarding, copying, andfiling;
- Assists in classroom, asdirected;
- Assists in preparation of classroom and teaching materials, asdirected;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures, and safetypractices;
- May perform lunchroom, playground, bus and other monitoring duties asassigned;
- Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Behavioral methods for at-risk students
- Instructional methods, procedures, and objectives, including curriculum implementation, lesson plan preparation and implementation, educational software, student evaluation and grading, record and report preparation, and classroommanagement;
- Basic clerical and administrative skills, including but not limited to typing, keyboarding, filing, andcopying;
- Operation of standard office equipment, including a personal computer and job-related software.
Ability to:
- Follow oral and written instructions and observe District policies andprocedures;
- Prepare and provide basic classroom services, including but not limited to, instruction, tutoring, student evaluation, lesson plans, curriculum implementation, materials preparation, and classroommanagement;
- Operate standard office equipment, including a personal computer using program applications appropriate to assignedduties;
- Operate classroomequipment;
- Perform basic office tasks including keyboarding, copying, andfiling;
- Prepare and maintain required records, files, reports, logs, statistics, anddocumentation;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers and staff members, and other Districtpersonnel;
- Communicate effectively, both orally and inwriting;
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, andreturnto andcompletetasks in a timelymanner;
- Perform time management and scheduling functions, meet deadlines, and set taskpriorities;
- Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitivedeadlines;
- Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Highly Qualified status required: have 32+ college credits, have a college degree, or pass the Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 460+;
- Classroom experience is preferred; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions, communicate effectively in person, and to hear sounds within the normal range ofconversation;
