Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) is seeking a paraprofessional/behavior aide to support students with intensive behavioral needs in K-12 settings.

You will work one-on-one with students, assist in behavior plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective student support. The role involves providing personal care as needed, de-escalation and safety practices, and communicating with parents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Experience working in an educational setting implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive behavioral needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages development of social and behavioral skills.
• Supervise students and ensure they are always monitored.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure consistency of behavioral plans.
• Provide personal care support dependent on student’s needs.
• Communicate effectively with parents.

Para Salary explanation:

This role pays $15.25/hr, including all breaks (6-8 weeks off yearly). Pay continues through holidays and summer break, making the effective rate 18.44/hr for working hours.

Posted Salary Range

USD $18.44 - USD $18.44 /Hr.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often requiring the handling of up to 50 pounds or more.
• Skill in managing fine motor tasks, such as helping students with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.
• Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
• Capacity to notice and respond to non-verbal cues from students.
• Capacity to remain calm and composed during physically and emotional demanding situations, ensuring student safety and well-being
