Acquire4Hire is seeking a dedicated individual for a part-time Youth Development role in Newport, New Hampshire. The successful candidate will oversee programs designed to support and develop youth, creating a safe and engaging environment for participants from kindergarten to third grade.

About This Role

We do more than provide childcare—we create safe, supportive environments where young people can learn, grow, and thrive. With more than 200 dedicated staff across 30 early‑childhood and out‑of‑school programs, our reach is wide and impact is meaningful. We are launching a new before‑and‑after‑school program this fall at Cornerstone Charter School in Newport, serving kindergarten through third‑grade students. This is a unique opportunity to build a program from the ground up and make a lasting difference in a new community.

What You’ll Do
Prepare Youth for Success
  • Create an environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Promote participation through age‑appropriate day‑to‑day activities aligned with program expectations.
  • Orient new members to daily scheduling and program expectations (Be Safe, Be Kind, Take Care).
  • Provide guidance, role modeling, and constructive feedback to promote development and skill building.
  • Demonstrate leadership through consistent use of safety and licensing best practices.
  • Account for members by name, face, and written attendance.
  • Oversee and assist in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining program space and upkeep.
Program Development, Implementation and Supervision
  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for members.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure safety, quality, and good appearance of the site at all times.
  • Ensure continual evaluation of club programs, tracking outcome metrics and addressing gender and cultural diversity.
  • Document any problems or issues that may arise on a day‑to‑day basis through injury/incident reports.
  • Communicate with child‑care licensing and DCYF when applicable.
  • Participate in special programs and/or events such as all‑staff training days.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Facilitate open and effective, professional verbal and written communication with families, staff, and members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and have a minimum of 600 hours working in a school‑age program.
  • Must have documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or another field of study focused on children, awarded by a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Employees who are 19 years of age may be assigned to the senior program.
  • Knowledge of youth development.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Ability to communicate with parents/guardians.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications to meet bureau of childcare licensing requirements.
  • Occasional travel for meetings/training may be required.
  • May be asked to drive the club van/short bus occasionally (21+ years of age only).
  • Must possess a safe driving record and submit a copy to the operations director or human resources.
Additional Expectations
  • All candidates offered a position will be required to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and a state criminal records background check.
  • The state child‑care licensing bureau may prohibit employment if a disqualifying finding exists on a criminal record.
  • The organization maintains a zero‑tolerance policy for child abuse and will not tolerate mistreatment or abuse of children in its programs. Any such conduct will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination and cooperation with law enforcement.
