School Age Coordinator – Hobart YMCA
Job Location: Hobart Family YMCA - Hobart, IN 46342. Position Type: Full Time. Pay starts at $17.00 per hour and up based on experience.
Position Summary
This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Before and After School Coordinator is responsible for the effective operation of before‑and‑after school care and camp programs. Responsibility may include but are not limited to: program operation, program development and growth, participant satisfaction, participant and member retention and safety, community collaborations, and staff supervision. The Coordinator is accountable for delivering exceptional and outstanding programs and service to YMCA members and participants in partnership with a larger team.
Essential Functions
- Perform office work as needed such as filing, copying, record keeping, and payroll completion. Ensure that all necessary paperwork and forms are accurately completed.
- Manage, maintain and report all state required records, CCDF, CACFP, and other third parties.
- Lead activities and behavioral management.
- Support the Director in training and supervising assigned program staff and volunteers and ensure consistent delivery of programming and procedures.
- Provide a nurturing atmosphere and safety for all participants.
- Maintain appropriate teacher to student ratios during programming.
- Monitor purchase and maintain necessary equipment through scheduled and preventative maintenance.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with parents and respond to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Adhere to the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Provide shift supervision while working 80% of time as direct service.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and development of team members.
- Conduct team member feedback, corrective actions, and evaluations.
- Schedule and process payroll functions.
- Support campaign efforts and donor engagement in the community and team members.
- Model relationship building in all interactions through “Listen First.”
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Functions
- Lead and implement curriculum within the established guidelines for before and after school care and camp programming.
- Support, supervise and participate in program activities related to before and after school care and camp.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years related experience working with children of diverse ages and cultures.
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Organized and detail oriented.
- Adept computer skills in Office 365.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
