Job summary

The School District of Lee County in Fort Myers, Florida is seeking a Before and After Care Program Instructor to supervise and enrich students before and after school.

Responsibilities include implementing structured activities, providing academic support, and promoting positive behavior in a safe environment. Must have a high school diploma and CPR/First Aid certification; Florida teaching certificate preferred.

Qualifications

• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
• Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Implement structured activities including academic support, arts and crafts, games, and physical play.
• Supervise students before and/or after regular school hours in a safe and nurturing environment.
• Promote positive behavior, social development, and respectful interactions among students.
• Set up and clean up program areas and materials daily.
• Report all accidents immediately to the Program Director.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents or guardians as needed.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Current employee of the School District of Lee County.
• Valid Florida teaching certificate.
• Experience working with children in a group or educational setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of and experience with organizing student activities and events.
• Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
• Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with program staff and school personnel.
• Ability to relate to and inspire confidence in students.
• Ability to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness, injury, or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines.
