Job summary

Vance Airscoop is seeking a part-time Group Leader to oversee school-age programs, ensuring safety and quality in line with Step Up to Quality. You will implement activities, manage staff ratios, and maintain strong relationships with families and licensing bodies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, current First Aid/CPR and related certifications (or willingness to obtain within 30 days), plus a valid driver’s license and 18+ years of age.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Certifications: First Aid, Communicable Disease, Child Abuse Recognition and Prevention and CPR certifications or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
• Possess driver’s license and capable of driving to multiple site locations.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Manages, directs, and coordinates high-quality, school-age programs for assigned location(s) and implements new program activities.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, local, and “Step Up to Quality” regulations as they relate to program areas.
• Ensures YMCA standards are met, safety procedures are followed and ensures the safety and well-being of children as a first priority.
• Maintains child-to-staff ratio during operating hours.
• Interacts with children on their individual levels of development.
• Assists and implements weekly lesson plans that are effective and fit children’s needs, interests, and developmental level.
• Assists with posting meals and snacks that meet all CACFP guidelines.
• Develops and maintains relationships with state childcare licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to the assigned programs.
• Maintains YMCA policies and procedures regarding the site/location, state licensing, interactions and supervision of children, and communication with parents.
• Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
• Documents and reports to the Associate Executive Director any special needs or problems of an individual child, staff, or parent(s).
• Maintains the appearance of the classroom/outside areas which includes keeping supplies, materials and equipment in the rooms in a neat and orderly manner.
• Attends staff meetings and ongoing trainings (10 hours per year to include first aide, communicable disease, child Abuse Prevention, CPR and child development classes.)

Job description

FSLA: Non-Exempt

Status: Part-Time, 15-30 hours/week

Pay: $15/hour

AM Shifts are between the times of: 6:30am-8am or 9:30am Monday-Friday

PM Shifts are between the times of 2:00pm or 3:30pm-6pm Monday-Friday

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Associate Executive Childcare Director, the Group Leader is responsible for the social, physical, spiritual, and mental development of each child within their care. In accordance with ODJFS and “Step Up to Quality” standards, he or she is also responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all activities, as well as keeping the safety and well-being of children as a first priority.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) while maintain alertness for long periods of time.
