Position Summary

The Group Leader (Beacon) supervises and engages Middle and High School participants during afterschool and summer programs by providing academic support, social-emotional learning, and enrichment activities. Under the guidance of program leadership, the Group Leader creates a safe, respectful, and engaging environment and supports students’ academic growth through tutoring, structured activities, and positive mentorship. Must be available to work during designated afterschool and/or summer program hours.

Children’s Aid annually serves children and their families at over 40 sites in New York, as well as through three national program models. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and

• Implement academic enrichment, social-emotional learning, and recreational
• Provide individual and small-group academic enrichment in reading, writing,
• Support instructional
• Create club lesson plans and facilitate club
• Promote positive behavior and maintain a safe, respectful program
• Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism and
• Collaborate with other staff members and provide guidance on daily activities as needed.
• Plan, organize, and supervise games, sports, arts, and special
• Supervise participants during supper, transitions, program activities and off-site
• Ensure program materials and equipment are properly signed out, cleaned, and
• Communicate regularly with program staff and participate in staff meetings and

• Fulfill mandated reporter

Minimum Qualifications

• Tier 1: High School Diploma or GED required and up to 2 years of experience working with children or
• Tier 2: College degree preferred and 2 or more years of experience working with children or
