Qualifications

  • Board certification in either anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, and advances in forensic pathology.

Responsibilities

  • Review investigative reports to determine jurisdiction.
  • Determine need for postmortem examination.
  • Direct assistants in preparing bodies for autopsy.
  • Perform autopsies and obtain specimens for analysis.
  • Conduct microscopic analysis when appropriate.
  • Determine cause and manner of death.
  • Prepare and complete reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide expert witness testimony in court.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and law enforcement personnel.

Skills

Board certified in forensic pathology
Knowledge of forensic pathology principles
Experience in medicolegal death investigation

Education

Board certified by the American Board of Pathology
