Job summary

Hy‑Vee is seeking a BDI Delivery Driver to provide prompt, friendly service and deliver products to customers. You will operate a delivery vehicle, load and unload orders, and help stock shelves when needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and good communication. Work Monday to Friday with some Saturday shifts; this is a safety‑minded, team‑oriented position in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service.
• Deliver products to customers.
• Load and unload delivery vehicle; stock shelves as needed.
• Write and review merchandise orders and ensure timely deliveries.
• Report to work on schedule, primarily Monday–Friday with occasional Saturday shifts (8:00 AM–12:00 PM).
• Maintain hygiene and dress standards per company guidelines.

General Function: Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service. Delivers products to customers.

Reporting Relations

Accountable and reports to Director, Assistant Director, Operations Management. Positions That Report to You: None.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in/out of the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner.
• Makes an effort to learn customers’ names and to address them by name whenever possible.
• Works with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Loads and unloads delivery vehicle with orders.
• Breaking down and unloading truck orders and stocking shelves.
• Delivers products to customers and collects payment.
• Write and review merchandise orders.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
• Works Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday shifts (8:00AM-12:00PM).
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitates the maintenance and upkeep of delivery vehicles.
• Performs other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
• Assists in training new employees.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

• Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, normal depth perceptions.
• Must be physically able to perform heavy work: frequently and repeatedly lifting or carrying objects of 50 pounds or more.
• Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
• Must be physically able to enter and exit a delivery vehicle many times a day, traverse staircases and other rough terrain to reach delivery destination.

Working Conditions

The duties of this position are mostly performed in a warehouse setting and offsite. This position may be exposed to dust, noise and temperature extremes. There are possible hazards from moving equipment. There is constant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day. This is a fast‑paced work environment.

Special Requirements

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen.
