Archer Aviation in San Jose, CA seeks an experienced Battery Testing Engineer to advance the eVTOL program. You will lead system and integration testing of Batteries and BMS, develop test plans, and create data-driven reports for FAA submission.

Candidates should have a BS in engineering and 5+ years in battery design, BMS testing, high voltage systems, and DAQ experience. Proficiency in LabVIEW, Python, Altium, and CAN tools is required; base pay ranges from $144k to $180k per year.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in battery design, BMS/controls, battery testing, or related testing environ.
• Experience with DO-160G, DO-311A, UN 38.3 or applicable test standards.
• Experience with Battery Pack and BMS testing and high voltage systems.

Responsabilités

• Perform systems and integration testing of prototype and certified Batteries or BMS components for eVTOL.
• Collaborate with BMS, Controls, Engines, Flight teams to develop/test plans for flight-critical hardware.
• Develop test plans, execute tests, and support regression testing.
• Create FAA submission reports and contribute to certification artifacts.

What you’ll do:

• Perform the systems and integration testing of prototype and certified Batteries or BMS components for the eVTOL aircraft
• Collaborate with BMS, Controls, Engines, Flight, Integrated, & Systems teams across the company to develop test plans and execute on those plans for flight critical hardware
• Support Regression testing
• Support EMC, Short Circuit, and Electrical Design Infrastructure
• Develop and test Mission Profiles on batteries
• Assist in developing the digital testing infrastructure for data storage and analysis
• Analyze test data and share with engineering teams
• Develop automated test equipment as needed
• Support Production & Reliability lab electrical infrastructure design
• Create reports for submission to the FAA.

What you need:

• BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in a battery design, bms/controls, battery testing, and/or electrical/electronic design/test environment
• Proficient in DO-160G, DO-311A, UN 38.3 or applicable test standards for test planning, setup, and execution
• Experience testing Battery Pack and BMS Electrically
• Experience with high voltage systems: cars, aircraft, etc.
• Experience with a wide variety of DAQ systems
• Experience with Altium
• Demonstrated project execution experience
• Positive can-do attitude
• Proficient with LabVIE or Python
• Proficient with CANoe, CANalyzer, PCAN

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with Automation and Data Processing
• Experience with Polarion, JAMA, DOORS or other requirements management tools
• Hands-on experience wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision
• Experience with AVL, Chroma, NI, HIL environments, and/or other Test Systems
• Experience with Electrical and Environmental test equipment
• Experience creating reports for certification agencies
