Radical AI is a materials company accelerating R&D by using automated laboratories to rapidly explore battery materials. You will define electrode chemistries and synthesis protocols, review data as it streams in, and guide the platform to explore the material space at scale.

The role focuses on Li-ion and Na-ion chemistry, with hands-on synthesis and characterization in a robot-enabled lab. You will collaborate with ML teams to optimize experiments and drive the program forward.

Qualifications

  • PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field; focus on Li-ion or Na-ion materials.
  • Hands-on synthesis of inorganic materials and characterization with standard tools.
  • Experience in fast-moving, iterative experimental cycles and interest in automation/AI.

Responsibilities

  • Design synthesis routes for battery materials (cathodes, anodes, electrolytes).
  • Characterize materials using standard techniques and translate results to next-round decisions.
  • Work with automation and ML teams to encode expertise into experiment design and decision loops.
  • Interpret ambiguous data and guide platform exploration.
  • Contribute to the broader science roadmap as the program grows.
