Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan is seeking a Battery Systems Engineer to define and manage BMS requirements for next-generation electrified vehicles. This hybrid position combines work from home and site collaboration.

You will lead design reviews, perform circuit simulations, support PCB layout, and work with cross-functional teams to improve reliability and cost. Legal eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering or related field with 5 years of progressive experience.
• 2 years of experience in high voltage battery systems, PCB hardware design, and BMS controller development.
• 1 year of PCB layout experience for high voltage battery controllers.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage requirements and system-level design for BMS in Ford’s next-generation electrified vehicles.
• Lead design reviews and worst-case analyses; validate robustness and margin; simulate circuits and systems.

Responsibilities

What you'll be able to do:

Battery Management Systems Hardware Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the worksite. Define and manage requirements and system-level design for BMS used in Ford’s next generation electrified vehicles. Lead and participate in design reviews and worst-case circuit analyses to validate system robustness. Perform circuit level design and schematic capture for BMS electronics, including component selection and tolerance analysis. Develop and run circuit and system simulations (SPICE, transient, worst case, and system level models) to validate functionality and margin. Support PCB layout and manufacturability: provide placement/routing guidance, review Gerbers, and ensure power distribution, thermal, and EMC considerations are addressed. Investigate warranty and quality returns; perform root cause analysis and implement product revisions to resolve field issues. Drive supplier investigations and corrective actions; develop and oversee specialized test methods to replicate and diagnose failure modes. Evaluate electrical system engineering alternatives across attributes such as cost, weight, packaging, quality, benchmarking, geometry creation, and functional performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and other Ford engineers to update requirements in response to system changes. Promote continuous improvement in designs, processes, and supplier quality controls.

Qualifications

You'll have…

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:1. High voltage battery systems to support testing and design activities. 2. PCB hardware design to develop, analyze, and test high voltage battery controllers. 3. Designing battery management system controllers. 4. Writing high quality requirements for battery management systems. 1 year of experience with the following skill is required: 1. PCB layout experience to complete the layout for the high voltage battery controllers.

We are offering a salary of$137,010.00 - $192,246.60/yr.
