Job summary

Albertsons is seeking a battery technician to service forklifts and warehouse equipment at our Roanoke, TX facility. You will change and water batteries, wash batteries, and record changes on a computer, ensuring safety and accuracy.

The role requires mechanical experience, ability to read work orders and manufacturer instructions, and a practical approach to maintenance in temperature-extreme environments. A positive, team-oriented attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Prior mechanical experience preferred.
• Ability to read computerized forms, aisles, work orders, manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain accurate records of battery changes on computer.
• Detail oriented and organized; initiative to see things that need to be done.

Responsibilities

• Change and water the batteries on the forklifts, long jacks, pacers, reach trucks, order pickers, crown machines, scrubbers, and others, as necessary.
• Wash the batteries on the forklifts, long jacks, pacers, reach trucks, order pickers, crown machines, scrubbers, and others as necessary.
• Keep battery room clean and organized, empty waste cans.
• Keep battery changing equipment clean and well maintained.
• Use computer to record work.
• Minor repairs on equipment and preventive maintenance (prior mechanic experience helpful).
• Be a positive team-oriented associate and have good follow through.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Perform other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Change and water the batteries on the forklifts, long jacks, pacers, reach trucks, order pickers, crown machines, scrubbers, and others, as necessary.

• Wash the batteries on the forklifts, long jacks, pacers, reach trucks, order pickers, crown machines, scrubbers, and others as necessary.

• Keep battery room clean and organized, empty waste cans.

• Keep battery changing equipment clean and well maintained.

• Use computer to record work.

• Minor repairs on equipment and preventive maintenance (prior mechanic experience helpful).

• Be a positive team-oriented associate and have good follow through.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule.

• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of changing batteries and where they are located on respective machines desired.

• Prior mechanical experience preferred, (experience with performing preventive maintenance, repair, hydraulic and electrical experience preferred and desired)

• Ability to read computerized forms, aisles, work orders, manufacturer instructions.

• Maintain accurate records of battery changes on computer.

• Detail oriented and organized; initiative to see things that need to be done without having to be told.

• Ability to work inside the warehouse and outside in temperature extremes (-20 degrees to over 95 degrees).

• Frequent standing, squatting, reaching, bending, climbing, and walking.

• Strength to lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 40 pounds on a regular basis, able to pick up from floor level to waist level, and sometimes shoulder level.

• As always schedules are never set permanently and are subject to change as our business dictates, sometimes radically.
