Job summary

Ford Energy is seeking a Battery Cell Simulation Engineer to develop electrochemical models (P2D/P4D) and link cell life to BESS system performance. You will calibrate against cycling and aging data, quantify degradation, and support warranty and lifecycle decisions.

The role requires a strong background in electrochemical modeling, battery fundamentals, and cross-functional collaboration with Ford teams. Hybrid travel across the U.S. may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
  • 3+ years (MS) or 5+ years (BS) of experience in battery modeling or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in electrochemical modeling (P2D or equivalent) and lithium-ion battery fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply high-fidelity electrochemical models (P2D/P4D) for battery cell performance and degradation.
  • Create physics-based life predictions and interface with BESS system models.
  • Calibrate models with experimental data and validate predictions against test results.
  • Collaborate with Ford Battery Modeling Team and CAE teams to ensure proper model integration.
