Job summary

SGS in the United States is seeking a Test Technician — Battery & Energy Storage to perform regulatory compliance testing on lithium-ion cells, modules, packs, EV traction batteries, and BESS to U.S., Canadian, and international standards.

You will prepare TRFs, analyze data, interact with client engineering teams, and help maintain certifications. A 2–5 year background in battery testing and an associate degree are required; travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in electrical/electronics engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of hands-on battery/energy storage testing experience.
• Understanding of Li-ion failure mechanisms and safety concepts.
• Experience with test instrumentation and high-voltage safety.

Responsibilities

• Execute battery and BESS compliance testing to listed standards.
• Prepare and review TRFs with traceability to data and standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and FMEAs for safety-critical systems.
• Support UL 9540A testing programs, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Set up and operate test equipment, build fixtures, and prepare samples.
• Record data and perform basic calculations and analysis.
• Interface with client engineering teams to resolve non-conformances.
• Maintain program documentation for active certifications.
• Maintain equipment and facilities; assist with reports as needed.
