Job summary

EMR Group in the United States seeks a Battery Disassembly Technician to support the operation, maintenance and development of our Battery Disassembly Facility. You will participate in safe and efficient dismantling of high voltage vehicle packs and modules.

The role emphasizes removing HV batteries from vehicles to module level, testing with a cycler, and maintaining traceable records while following 5S and safety protocols. This is a hands-on, process-driven position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BTEC or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant field.
  • IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
  • Mechanically competent with a practical problem-solving approach.
  • Aware of electrical automotive high voltage systems and safety requirements.
  • Experience with assembly/disassembly of electro/mechanical components and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain and develop the Battery Disassembly Facility.
  • Remove and disassemble high voltage batteries from vehicle to module level.
  • Connect batteries to battery cycler for discharging and testing.
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with procedures and safety rules.
  • Rectify/diagnose issues, engaging Battery engineers as needed.
  • Complete in-process records and documentation for traceability.
  • Work in line with Health & Safety requirements and 5S standards.
  • Develop routines and best practices to ensure product quality.

What You Will Be Doing

Supporting the operation of EMR’s battery recycling process for the disassembly of High Voltage vehicle battery packs and modules by operating, maintaining & developing the Battery Disassembly Facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Removal and disassembly of high voltage batteries from vehicle to module levelConnect batteries to battery cycler for discharging and testingCommunication of disassembly status via utilisation documentsMaintenance of all equipmentin accordance with manufacturer’s or EMR’s proceduresRectification/diagnosis of issues, engagement of Battery engineers where neededOperate within and help develop internal standardised operating procedures and local process documentsCompletion of in process records and documentationin order to maintain traceabilityWork in line with company Health & Safety requirements together with use of required PPEPerforming and following risk assessmentsDeveloping routines and best practices to ensure product quality
About You: Useful Experience
  • Minimum BTEC or NVQ level 3 qualification in a relevant fieldIMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and ReplacementMechanically competentWillingness to proactively learnMaintain safe and tidy workplaces to 5S standardsA practical problem solver, capable of evaluating problems through understanding and interpreting facts and dataAware of electrical automotive high voltage systemsAn understanding of battery system fundamentals is advantageousExperienced with the assembly/disassembly of complex electro/mechanical components and systemsOperating forklift trucksAble to set up and operate basic test equipment to perform diagnostic tests
