Job summary

Maitland Fire Rescue Department is seeking a Battalion Chief with extensive leadership in fire suppression, EMS administration, and strategic planning. The role oversees emergency response, safety, training, and program development to support citywide public safety objectives.

The ideal candidate brings advanced fire service credentials, extensive supervisory experience, and a proven ability to coordinate complex operations, budgeting, and interagency collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in fire-related field with multiple certifications as required by Florida fire service standards.

Responsibilities

• Administrative leadership: assist in Fire Operations Division budget and supervise Lieutenants and Officers.
• Oversee programs aligned with the department’s strategic plan and prepare reports and records.
• Respond to alarms and direct scene activities; participate in grant preparation and performance reporting.
• Support EMS field delivery, establish compliance with EMS guidelines, and coordinate with external agencies.
• Lead fire suppression training initiatives and coordinate with Central Florida Fire Institute and local departments.
• Maintain safety programs; investigate incidents and prepare corrective measures.
• Coordinate non-emergency public education programs and community outreach.
• Serve as part of management team; communicate with hospital management on resource deployment.
• Ensure adherence to policies, SOPs, and performance standards; participate in safety committee.
