Tractor Supply Company is seeking a dedicated Bathing Technician in Alpharetta, GA. You will provide compassionate bathing, grooming prep, and safety-focused care to pets while upholding our brand promise and salon standards.

You will guide pet parents on services, maintain a clean grooming area, and coordinate with the VIP Petcare team to ensure a positive experience. Responsibilities include safely handling pets, discussing service options with clients, and ensuring accurate discharge

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in a managerial, or combination of experiences which would lend itself to broad exposure of operational functions.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Familiarity with canine hygiene and environment is preferred.

As a Bathing Technician you will play a positive role in the lives of pets and pet parents by providing a bathing experience that includes compassion, gentleness, reassurance, safety and comfort in a non-scissor environment. You will be key in delivering our brand promise to pet parents, partners and other team members by living the values and promoting a culture of safety in the grooming environment. The position will report to the VIP Petcare team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

• Safely restrain / hold pets for wellness procedures including nail trims/grinding, anal gland expression and clipping
• Make recommendations for services and products for every pet, every time, based on the pet’s lifestyle and an understanding of canine hygiene and environment.
• Scan pets for microchips
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment by disinfecting surfaces and equipment in between each pet
• Promote a culture of safety in your salon and live our values, while continuing to reinforce our brand promise with pet parents, partners, and team members
• Achieve goals, as set by your manager, including dollars per pet, pets per clinic, preferred product and microchips sold
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with pet parents and partners.
• Collect payment, dispense, and label medication, and review discharge paperwork with pet parents.
• Performs Bathing Technician functions, including bath appropriate to pet type, as requested by Pet Parent, agreed upon and described on the groom card, computer system profile, or instruction form
• Assess dog’s coat conditions and partner with groomer on service recommendations
• Bathe, blow dry, clip/ grind nails, clean ears, brush coat, clean teeth, express glands in all breeds and sizes
• Meet and greet all grooming clients to discuss bathing instructions after assessing the dog’s coat and condition. Meet with clients or communicate after the bath on results, including providing report cards. Suggest any added services that would be beneficial to the client and the pet.
• Ensures front desk is advised of extra charges required for brush-out or de-matting services.
• Manages workload and schedule to ensure departure times are met and Pet Parents are notified in advance of unavoidable delays.
• Ensures grooming station is stocked with supplies, tools, cleaned and ready for use, and alerts
• Supervisor if supplies are needed or if equipment is damaged or needs repaired.
• Maintains room safety by wiping up water spills and pet accidents as soon as possible.
• Updates pet status using company defined systems, and advises reception when pets are ready to go home, and all required and requested services are completed.
• Always follow safety procedures for pets and staff.
• Monitor pets’ health while bathing and ask for assistance when a pet is stressed, very difficult to manage, or showing any signs of injury prior to or during the service being rendered.
• Cleans grooming areas at the end of day and performs additional maintenance throughout the day as needed.
• Utilizes company electronic system to log pet & Pet Parent notes, and updates accordingly or provides these updates to the reception team for system entry.
• Present themselves in a professional manner, including the wearing of company approved attire in good condition, and abide by other desired personal presentation requirements found in the employee manual or guide
• Effectively communicates with Superiors, Team Members and Pet Parents
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Wellness Center Supervisor

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience in a managerial, or combination of experiences which would lend itself to broad exposure of operational functions

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

• Experienced with Safe Pet Handling
• Experience with brushing, combing, bathing and drying of all coat types
• Experience with nail trimming and ear cleaning
• Can execute preparatory hair trimming
• Can provide basic finishing techniques
• Ability to provide high level of customer service
• Experience with pet salon equipment handling and maintenance
• Familiar with safety and sanitization protocols
• Understanding of canine behaviors
• Experience with time and attendance/HR Software, scheduling databases and iPad technology
